Brandi

   • Found a Forever Home June 6, 2018!
   • Brandi is a sable female.

October 23, 2019:
My poor little Brandi had a reaction to her distemper shot yesterday. Showed me why I do this again. Took all 3 for shot. Had to leave her there for awhile. Took the other two home, then went back. Their whole world was upset. Guyscupset because Brandi didn't come with them. When I went back and after an hr or so brought her home, I realized that she has jot fofgotten whatever bad stuff happened to her. I could see it in her little face. Just like when I brought her home from Albany. She just wanted me to hold her and hug her. When I got home the boys climbed into the carrier and they all just stayed for about 15 min. While they comforted her. Tables were turned. She wasn't the boss. After awhile she got out, had a snack and climbed into a bed. Slept fir a couple of hrs. Finally she was back to her old self. They knew somehow. All back to normal. Sge is the boss again. She has always been more emotional than the other two and more fragile. This is the 1st time since I got her that they have been seperated and how much they love each other. It's what it's all about and just a small part, only 3 ferrets, of a better life. Very heartening to witness.

Got this surprise email and am eternally grateful as is Brandi and Emmett & Jasper. They are the happiest Little kids you could ever have. I get so much pleasure just watching them play and interact. I know I didn't complete my assigned mission but because she bit someone I didn't think she was adopable. She rode all the way home in my lap and I fell in love with her. The guys love her and she loves them. She has taken over as "the boss". That in itself is fun to watch. I think Got wanted it to be this way.

April 5, 2019:
This morning's breakfast desert. They all now like ferretone. Took a long time, one by one but for some reason I'll never understand they like the stinky stuff. Hope all is well down there. At least the big yellow thing trips should be better. Getting close to the june picnic. Other than a new fridge, deliver today, all is well here. Tom

Initial Contact, June 1, 2018:
Hello, I am looking for some help with a ferret. I hope you can point me in a Direction to help this baby or if you can help. I will now tell you the story of the little one I call run away
12 days ago my husband was at work and in ran this little girl ferret she went right to him he puts her in a box till I got there
we took her to the vet she had 5 ticks on her none of them were engorged so they weren't on her long she had one flea on her and she looked healthy so we took her one (I already have one ferret and was looking for a friend for him)
when we got her home I gave her a bath and put her in the top part of the cage so she can get use to the smell of my fur baby and same for him and plus she needed time to rest eat and drink
I gave her just about 24 hours and then we took her out to play with just my husband my oldest daughter and myself she didn't so much interest into us
she just wanted to run my husband got a toy to see if she would play with it and she jumped up and grabbed it then turned and ran at me and bit me in the arm when we got her off of my arm she was put back in the cage. I had to go to the emergency room but is fine no stitches or anything.
The Department of Health was contacted she was quarantine for 10 days and today she was giving the free and clear. Now with that said I will tell you what I do know about run away she is still a baby maybe 3-4 months she is a Marshalls ferret she has the 2 tattoos in her ear.
I really feel she deserves a chance for a good life with the right home and a more experience owner to gain her trust back into people. I am not experienced enough to help this little one that deserves such a better life then what she has had so far.
I feel someone got her from a pet store and she either got out or they let her out and I was hoping to give her a forever home but like I have said I am not the right person to help her out of this shell of being scared and not trusting of people. If you can help me in any way to find this poor girl a forever home I would really appreciate it.

Second Contact, June 1, 2018:

Shelter Response, June 1, 2018:
Can you tell her I will address this after tomorrow. I just don't have the energy to read through her post and respond. I will after clinic day. We will do what we can to help her if she will wait until the event is over . Thanks Sheilla

Shelter Response, June 3, 2018:
If you can get her to us we will take her. We work with little ones that have been traumatized. Where are you located?

Owner Response:
Hello, I live in the city of Rensselaer. We are 5 minutes away from already. I can bring her to you. Where are you located at?

Shelter Response:
We are in Naples NY - finger lakes region. We are 5 miles from the south end of Canandaigua Lake - Brenda

Shelter message to Volunteer:
Tom you have said you would help transport if we needed it. There is a little ferret girl (very bad biter ) that is going to be euthanized if we can't get her here to us. She was found out running around in Rensselaer, New York. The family that found her are willing to release her to us but they are 3 hrs from Naples would you be willing to meet up with them 1/2 way to pick her up? Then you and I can figure out how we can get her to Naples?

Owner Response:
You are a over a 3 hour drive from me. Is there any way you can meet somewhere a little closer? If not I will do what I have to, to get this little lady to you. I can't wait for her to get to a place where she can start to be happy.

Shelter Response:
I am aware you are that far away will you give me time to see if I can find one of our volunteers to help? Brenda

Owner Response:
That would be great! If not I will take the drive to get her to you.

Shelter Response:
Okay I've already started working on it. Give me some time I will do what I can to lesson your trip. Brenda

Shelter to Owner:
I believe we have a ride for her, the volunteer has said yes. I need to let him know what is going on then I will connect the two of you by email to make the arrangements. I will confirm via email when Tom and I connect once again. Brenda

Owner to Shelter:
Good morning, as if am looking at my schedule for this week I won't have time to travel till Saturday after 1. If you can't find help to lessen the trip we will be able to do the whole trip but if you can that would be great. We will do what we can to make her happy till Saturday, and hope it gives you more time to find some help. If not we will see you Saturday with the little one. Thank you for all the help this far and being in constant contact with me.

Shelter to Volunteer and Owner
Tom meet Brandi, Brandi meet Tom. Tom has agreed to help transport this little girl for us. I am going to hand the arrangements over to the both of you. No need to have a third party trying to make transport arrangements, You and Tom can decide what time/day works best for the both of you.
All I ask is when you respond please reply to all so I have a record/paper trail for this little girl. Thank you Brandi for making sure this little one gets the proper attention to feel safe again, thank you Tom for helping us get her to Naples to start her rehabilitation.

Volunteer to Shelter
Afternoon Brenda. Update. Sent Brandi an email. Gave her my ph # and a few suggestions. Waiting for her to reply. Hoping for tomorrow. Hug those kids for me. Tell them I might see them soon.

Shelter to Volunteer
Okay great keep me in the loop. I will do that thanks so much.

Volunteer to Shelter, June 5, 2018:
Evening Brenda. Got reply from Brandi. Am going to meet her husband , Chris, tomorrow after 5:30 and Pic-up our little girl. So if all goes well I will have her tomorrow night. The rest is up to you. Most sensible is I will keep her overnight and bring her to you the next day. Give me your thoughts when you get this. I will get her to you as you wish. Oh, and tell the kids I'm going to see them soon.

Shelter to Volunteer:
Once again I need you both to reply to all. That is fine, are you can use the cage you had going for Shadow when he was sick. Please do not introduce him/her to your crew. That works well for me yes. Yes I agree getting her today is best I believe.
