September 8, 2024:
I found a mass on Tigger yesterday. On the left side between his jaw and shoulder, it's about the size of a ping pong ball. It's not a fat pod, it's firm and movable. I checked in with Dr. Sandra she suggested it might be an abscess tooth or injury. There is no sign of injury, I checked his teeth there is no abscess. Actually there is no decay, a bit of tarter on one of the upper teeth but his teeth look okay. I guess now is the time to see what Dr. Dana has to say about it.

August 17, 2024:
Tigger so far is showing no signs of problems with his increased dose of medication.

August 16, 2024:
I took blood from Tigger, his numbers are still low 41, however I tested before he ate or had his soup. I'm going to add Pred dose at noon.

August 15, 2024:
Tigger is done with his antibiotics, is walking normal, curled up sleeping in the bed with his cage mates. I believe we have him stable.

August 13, 2024:
I've added soup only to Tigger's day his numbers were so low he is on the same schedule as Aurora soup/med 4 am. Soup only at 9 am and noon. soup/meds 4pm.

August 1, 2024:
I got a call from the vets office late yesterday about Tigger's labs. His liver has elevated enzymes, protein is low and he is mildly anemic.

June 15, 2024:
I've been having trouble getting Minee to eat her soup on her own, the last few days I've had to put her on my lap to get her to eat. This morning however once again she kept walking away from her soup, I needed to clean up the soup I had spilled all over the floor, second spill of the morning. I put her back in her cage with her soup... she dove right in. It seems she doesn't want to eat her soup in the same place with her brothers.

June 5, 2024:
I believe I'm going to separate the NJ 5 into 2 cages. Eenie will not let up on chewing on Meenie's ears. I have an empty cage that will hold 2 then the 3 of the NJ 5 that are on medication can stay in the horizontal cage. They can still be out in the play areas together, Eenie doesn't seem to bother him when they are out and about. I'm still working that out in my head. I can put the Meenie and Mo can bunk together in the cage Gavin was in.

November 22, 2023:
Tigger's chest looks good. He settled right in with his business when I put him in the room they were in.

November 21, 2023:
Post-op report - care taker Sue - Home at 6 and gave him his Pred at 6:15. Looks good, up and nosing around. Its nice to have a ferret in the house again even if its just over nite!

October 16, 2023 AM:
I spent time on the phone with Lakeside, trying to get Tigger in to have the mass removed. We did a lot of moving and changing things around. I got him going in on Nov 13th we moved Casper, Eenie from the 13th to Nov 30th, there was an opening to get Rocco in on that appointment as well.

June 13, 2023 AM:
Post-op kids are doing very well I'm going to let Aurora and Bear out of the sick pen in a couple of days to hang out in a small play area, for a bit. Thursday will be a week after surgery they are healed enough to get a bit more move about room. They still will need to be kept in rooms there is nothing to climb, I'll put them back in the sick pen after they get some out time, until I remove their stitches.

June 10, 2023 AM:
Both post-op kids are doing well, Bear moved herself out of the sack and into the pile of blankets I put in the middle of the sick pen. She ate her soup this morning staying under the blankets. Tigger was bright and alert, he was moving easily and ready to get up for his soup.
PM: I offered Bear and Tigger soup around noon, they both ate all of it. I had Tigger in the pan eating his evening soup with meds, I took the soup into Aurora and Bear, when I came back to the ferret room Tigger had finished his bowl of soup, he was standing on the side of the island eating soup out of the blender I had sitting next to him. They are both looking brighter. Their incisions look good.

June 9, 2023:
Both Bear and Tigger came through the surgery, OFD said the masses were straight forward in removal, Doc took some nodes off Bear's pancreas while he was in there. The labs that were done showed Tigger has the start of insulinoma. I've been giving him soup daily because he was at time lethargic. I can tell both ferrets are uncomfortable but they ate their soup well this morning.

Initial Contact, January 13, 2023:
I got your information from St Hubert Animal Shelter. Currently we are fostering 5 ferrets. Not by choice. We had a family member moving in with the ferrets, and left without them. They are very cute, but we don't have enough time to give them attention and we feel sorry for them. We have 3 hunting dogs and a cat and we have to be very careful to make sure they are safe. So they are confined to the room.
We dedicated a small room for them, so they are not in the cage all day. They are pretty housebroken, they use a pee-pad. We tried to find them a new home but with no luck. Please let me know if you could take them and what are the requirements.
Thank you, Anita C

Shelter Response:
Where are you located? Are they current on vaccines? This is our link on how to surrender. We work on a first come first basis we have 1 opening if you don't respond in a timely manner you could lose that spot.

February 17, 2022, Owner Response: Hi Brenda, Thank you for your reply.
1, I'm in Sparta NJ. I know it's a drive to you , but you came recommended, so I wouldn't mind the drive to get them to a safe place.
2, They are not vaccinated. Per the vet , they didn't needed , because they were kept only inside.
3, I will read the link now.

Hi Brenda, I wasn't able to make appointment locally. Not everyone is working with ferrets. I made an appointment with Brockport Animal Hospital on 2-18-23 at 9:45 am. So I can be there at your place after we are done with the vet's visit.

They all play together and sleep together. They get along very well. I don't know which one eat which food, but we are giving them 2 kind of food and 2 kind of treats. I told the vet that I'm surrendering them to you. They were very nice. I hope the weather will be nice on 2/18/23 to make the drive easy.

January 19, 2023, Shelter Response: great, that is helpful in housing and play time. No matter; they will take to our food mix easily with what you are feeding them. Oh okay, that explains how you got in so quickly. They are very good to us.
